Spotify’s hoping to attract new premium users and retain existing ones with an expanded Hulu partnership in what the two companies are calling a ‘first-of-its-kind entertainment bundle’.
Last year the streaming firm launched a $12.99-a-month bundle in the United States with the TV-on-demand service and in 2017 it launched a student bundle deal with Hulu for $4.99-per-month.
March 12, 2019 5:00am Hulu and Spotify Premium are slashing the price of their combo bundle, with Hulu’s ad-supported plan being made available for free to current Spotify Premium subscribers. Go to your account page and under Account overview select Activate Hulu; You will be asked to switch to Spotify Premium for Students + Hulu and activate both your accounts; By switching and activating both accounts through Spotify, you will no longer be billed by Hulu, and you will then be billed every month through your current Spotify billing method.
As of today (March 12), Spotify is giving the ad-supported version of Hulu (which usually costs $5.99-a-month) to all new and existing US Premium subscribers for free.
Premium users will now have access to ‘the ultimate package of 40 million songs, top podcasts, more than 85,000 episodes of TV, movies and original content’ according to Spotify.
Hulu offers hit original content like The Handmaid’s Tale in addition to thousands of other movies and TV series.
Subscribers who are currently paying $12.99 per month as part of last year’s bundle offer will also be automatically migrated to the regular Spotify Premium price of $9.99.
This Hulu bundle news follows other recent Spotify Premium partnerships with the likes of Google Home and an expanded Student plan that now includes SHOWTIME and Hulu.
Existing Spotify Premium users can activate Hulu’s ad-supported plan as part of their account via the Your Services page. and new Premium users can sign up at Spotify.com/hulu with the first 30 days free.

In the summer of 2019, for a limited time, Spotify Premium subscribers could get a Hulu subscription at no additional cost. That offer has since expired, and it's no longer possible to sign up for this combination plan.
Instead, it's now possible for students to get both Hulu and Showtime included in their Spotify Premium subscription. However, there are a number of caveats to the deal that you should keep in mind.

How to get Hulu and Showtime with Spotify
If you're eligible for a Spotify Premium for Students subscription, you can get Spotify, Hulu's ad-supported plan, and Showtime for $4.99 per month.
To get the deal, apply for Spotify Premium for Students.
To qualify for the deal, you need to be 'enrolled at a US Title IV accredited college or university, and above the age of 18,' according to Spotify. You'll need to log in to apply for the deal using your college or university's portal, or upload a proof of enrollment when completing the online form. This can be a student ID, transcript, or enrollment letter.

- You can't currently be subscribed to Hulu (No Ads). If you have the No Ads version of Hulu, you need to change to the ad supported plan and wait for the billing cycle to end before attempting to get the Spotify deal. Or you can make a new Hulu account.
- You can't have any Hulu add-ons like Showtime or HBO. If you want to use your existing Hulu account, you'll need to drop these add-ons before proceeding.
- You need to pay for Hulu directly, and not be billed though a service like Roku. If you're subscribed to Hulu through Roku, you'll need to cancel that subscription before proceeding.
