Spotify announced a new promo that we are so excited about. The streaming giant is now gifting all their Spotify Premium users in Canada with a brand-new Google Home Mini, completely free of charge.
The best part? This offer applies to both new and existing users! Meaning if you already have an account, you can claim your freebie now, and if you've been looking for an extra incentive to join Spotify Premium, this is it. Although, there is one catch that is annoying Spotify users about this sweet deal.
'For a limited time, Spotify Premium includes a Google Home Mini. New and existing account holders paying $9.99 CAD/month are eligible to redeem a Google Home Mini from the Google Store,' says Spotify on their website.
This promo only lasts until May 9, 2019, or while supplies last – given how many people probably want to get a free Google Home Mini, it's definitely better to claim it sooner than later. Spotify says that the free gift must be redeemed by May 31, 2019.
You'll even be able to get your free Google Home Mini shipped to you at no extra cost. Google will be taking care of shipping and handling for the free gift.
So what are the exceptions? The offer does not stand for trial users or those on a Student or Family subscription. 'You must have a full-price Premium subscription in order to claim your Google Home Mini,' says Spotify.
'If you’re on a Premium trial, you can claim your Google Home Mini (subject to availability) when your trial is complete and you’ve started your full-price subscription.'
To claim your free Google Home Mini from Spotify, visit the promotional page on their website. Afterwards, either login to your existing Spotify Premium account or sign up for a new account.
Once you're verified for your free gift, you'll receive an email which will provide a link where you can choose the colour of your new smart home speaker and enter your shipping details.

Over the past year, there have been a few promotions to get a free Google Home Mini from Spotify, and now that offer is back on the table. New Spotify subscribers can once again pick up a free Google Home Mini for a limited time.
Advertised on the Spotify Premium home page, this offer is open to all new Spotify subscribers. In the past, some of these offers have been available to current subscribers who manage family plans, but that isn’t the case this time around.
Update 12/11: To close out 2019, Spotify is bringing back its free Google Home Mini promo yet again after the last promo from October expired a few weeks ago. This time around, the promotion is open to all Premium subscribers including those who use a Student-tier account. If you’ve ever redeemed this promotion in the past you won’t be eligible, but if you’ve missed out the past few times, it’s a great chance to sign up! Just like in the past, though, this Spotify promotion nabs eligible users a Google Home Mini from the Google Store completely free of charge, regardless of whether they’re using an Individual Plan or Family Plan. The promotion is open through November 15 and codes will be sent out shortly after. Those codes then expire on December 31, 2019.
Notably, Spotify’s terms and conditions specifically mention that the code can’t be used to redeem for a Google Nest Mini, the newer hardware that has better sound quality. That’s a shame, but free is free.
