Alexa App Spotify Not Supported

Use Alexa to play your favorite tracks in the Spotify app with your voice. You’ll also notice an enhanced music landing page to help you discover your new favorite song. Finally, we’ve moved the Click-to-Talk button to the top left of the screen and the Wake Word button to the top right of the screen to help improve your experience.

Use voice commands to control music and podcasts with Amazon Alexa!

Get started

Download the Alexa app, open it, and link your Spotify account with these steps:

  1. Tap the menu in the top-left.
  2. Tap Settings, then Music & Podcasts.
  3. Select Spotify, then Link account to Alexa.
  4. Enter your Spotify account details.

Set Spotify as your default service for music and podcasts so you don’t need to specify “on Spotify” at the end of your voice commands to play music:

  1. Tap the menu in the top-left.
  2. Tap Settings, then Music & Podcasts.
  3. Tap Choose default music services.
Note: To set Spotify as your default podcast service, tap Choose default podcast service.
  4. Select Spotify and tap DONE.

Note: You still need to say “on Spotify” at the end of commands to play podcasts.

Now just ask Alexa to play something! E.g. 'Alexa, play Discover Weekly'. Check out the Amazon help site for supported languages.

Supported devices

Amazon Echo, Amazon Echo Dot, Amazon Echo Spot, Amazon Echo Show, Amazon Tap, Amazon Fire TV Cube, and all Sonos players.

Don’t start the new year with the smart speaker still sitting in its box. Setting it up to play classic, pop, and everything else is a done deal in three steps.

What you’ll need: your new device, the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet, and your Spotify login info. Here’s how to connect Amazon Alexa to Spotify:

Spotify Not Working With Alexa

  1. First, download the Amazon Alexa app from the Google Play or App store, and follow the prompts to set up your new Amazon Echo or Echo Dot.
  2. Once connected, go to “Settings,” select “Music,” click “Link New Service,” and then tap “Spotify” to input your Spotify username and password.
  3. Select “Default Services” to set Spotify as your default music service—et voilà.

Bonus hack: Once Alexa is up and running, you can even listen to another user’s Spotify account. Just ask Alexa to “Spotify Connect,” and the device will search for another one on the same Wi-Fi network. Stealing your holiday houseguests’ excellent playlists is encouraged.

Ready? Try asking Alexa to play the very best of your library, or help you discover something new, by saying:
