Pause Play Forward Button Not Working With Spotify Mac

Play/Pause - Play or pause video and music playback (for supported content). Fast Forward - Fast forward video and music playback (for supported content). Voice - Press and hold the Voice button, then speak into the microphone at the top of the remote. The Play/Pause/Forward/Rewind buttons don't work on my XPS 13 9360. The function keys they stand for (a.k.a. The F3, F4, F5 buttons) do seem to work when I hold down the Fn key. It's only the Playing/Pausing music and skipping tracks that doesn't work using the buttons. First - make sure the 'SAT' button lights up at the top of the remote when you press pause/rewind. If some other button lights up - you have accidently switched the remote to control some other device. Press the 'SAT' button for a second, then try the pause button. If that does not work - call Dish tech support. They are pretty good.

MacBook :: F3 And F8 Not Working Fine / Working As Play And Pause Keys

F3 and my right shift key have suddenly become play/pause keys in addition to their original functions. My F8 doesn't really do anything anymore and does not even light up in Keyboard View. I've tried to use Sizzling Keys, and reset Keyboard Shortcuts but the problem still persists. It seems to affect most music playing programs (iTunes and Vox. MacBook :: Function Keys Not Working With ITunes

Aug 31, 2009

Today I received a bluetooth Razr mouse in the mail today and went to connect the device as I would any other. Well when I was playing music in iTunes, the function keys to skip, pause, and every other function key does not work. The volume keys move my windows and pull up widgets. I dont know if the mouse has anything to do with it, but I imagine it doesn't because I disconnected it and the problem remains.

MacBook Air :: Function Keys Not Working For Brightness Or Volume?

Mar 21, 2012

I have a 2011 (?) macbook air and ever since my trip to the genius bar for a battery issue my function keys don't work after I wake it up (just opening screen). May also be related to last firmware update?
I have checked the function key mapping in settings and they are normal. The volume key launches Expose and the brightness keys (and others) don't do anything. A reboot helps but only untill the first time I put it to sleep (close/open lid).

MacBook :: Handy Play / Pause Button For Itunes But Affects VLC As Well?

Aug 26, 2009

I love using the play/pause button on my macbook when used with itunes, it's handy as ****. But the problem is, that it affects VLC as well, and it plays a video and the audio interrupts whatever music I'm listening to (even when no video is opened but vlc is running, it'll open my last played video and play that alongside the music). I never had this problem with the old version of vlc, but ever since updating, vlc has now been wired to work with the friggen play/pause button.
I tried looking in VLC preferences to see if it could be disabled but couldn't find anything regarding the mac play/pause keyboard button. Any ideas on how I can stop vlc from being affected by this key? And I'm not keen on the idea of going back to the older version unless it's my only option.

MacBook Pro :: F8 (play / Pause) Button Triggering ITunes And VLC Player On 13'

Oct 23, 2009

I got my new 13' MBP two weeks ago and I've been using the F8 button solely for playing and pausing songs in iTunes. I think it's great to have this because I can easily stop my music when I want to watch a youtube video and the audio is coming from somewhere else and not iTunes for example The problem is, whenever I press the F8 button now, it stops the song in iTunes but it starts playing a video in VLC...I checked both system preferences and VLC preferences but couldn't find anywhere to control what the F8 button controls.

Software :: None Of Function Keys Working

Jun 2, 2008

I have a Mac os x with the Windows vista partition. I downloaded Realplayer to view some videos on both the windows and mac side. When I did the latter I realized that this was the problem; all my function keys stopped working, I cannot control volume, eject, brightness, anything. I have uninstalled Realplayer from the Windows partition and the problem persists. I have tried to look into the systems folder and drivers, but I really don't know what I am doing and I don't want to make it worse.

OS X :: Function Keys Not Working / Sound Sys Pref Are Grayed Out?

Sep 11, 2007

I just bought a 2.4 MBP model a1260. When I got home i noticed the volume keys were not working, and then i noticed none of the function keys were working properly. (example, f12 shows an eject CD symbol). So, the keys are working but not doing the standard functions such as volume and brightness. I have check and unchecked (and restarted) the 'use all f1, f2 as standard function keys' to no result. Some other wierd things that seem to be related are:
1. In the SOUND window in SYS PREFS all sound effects are greyed out. Under OUTPUT and INPUT it says no devices found.
2. When i go to the itunes store in itunes and i double click on a song, it wont play. Not only is there no volume, but song wont play. Its the same with my own music from my cds.
3. When i insert a DVD no volume control shows up.
And the last superwierd thing (haha) is that I reloaded leopard and when the computer restarted up after install there was no OSX music that normally plays as the video flys thru the starfield.

Software :: Brightness Slider And Function Keys Not Working

Apr 30, 2005

The issue is with the brightness keys and the brightness slider controls. It appears that after the 10.4 upgrade the main LCD on some PBs and iBooks stops working. In my case the attached screen lost the ability to adjust brightness, but my external 20' LCD is fine. It looks like two things have happened. The association between the keys (F1 and F2) and the code for controlling brightness somehow got disconnected and/or the 'capability' of the mac to adjust the brightness of the attached LCD got lost in the upgrade. We've tried repair permissions, rebooting, new users to no avail.

OS X :: MBP Function Keys And Multi Touch Not Working After Archive Install?

Jun 5, 2008

I've got a new 15' mbp that tonight I drove out with to the apple store. It was unable to mount external devices (iPods, external hd's, etc). The Genius ended up doing an archive install, saying that the mounting disks were running full throttle (making it EXTREMELY hot) but not succeeding; something in the OS had gotten stuck. So I left after he did an archive and install and tested my drive and iPod. Everything was working....I thought. Long drive back home. Open up my computer, try to adjust screen brightness...nothing. Try to adjust volume. Nothing. None of the function keys work. The eject button works, and strangely enough, the F12 button which should raise the volume also tries to eject. The pause button brings up the spaces window (showing all four spaces).
Very frustrated, could use some advice. Do I need to do an erase and install? These keys worked fine before the archive/install.

OS X :: Apple Remote Pause Play Button Keeps Opening ITunes?

Sep 16, 2009

I'm sure this has already been posted, and I apologize if it has, but a couple of searches turned up empty.Anyway, I just discovered this today and I'm praying this is a bug and not a 'feature'. When you click the pause/play button on the Apple Remote, iTunes opens and begins playing. The same thing happens when you hit the pause/play button on the media bar. I thought I was becoming dyslexic because iTunes kept playing randomly. It was only until today when I discovered this bug while playing a file in VLC. Apparently it happens with pretty much any app.

Software :: ITunes 8.1 - Long Pause Before Playback After Hitting Play Button?

Mar 14, 2009

I upgraded to iTunes 8.1 when it showed up on Software Update. Since then, I've noticed that when I hit the Play button to play anything in my Library, there is a long pause (about 6-7 seconds) before the audio file starts playing. Have any of you had this happen to you?
This is on 10.4.11 on my iMac G5. My drive is getting short on space (and I'm aware of issues do to short drive space ), but it didn't do this before the upgrade to 8.1. Let me know your thoughts...

ITunes For Mac :: Play / Pause And Skip / Rewind Buttons Don't Work On Keyboard?

Aug 31, 2014

The play/pause and skip/rewind buttons on my keyboard are not working with the latest version of iTunes (11.3.1). I've read about fixes related to the Google Chrome extension, but I don't have that extension. I noticed that the buttons work with Spotify but not with iTunes. When I test the buttons on iTunes, I make sure that Spotify is completely closed. The play/pause function is especially important to me, as I use it to transcribe interviews quickly.

Applications :: Remapping The Itunes Function Keys?

I'm wondering if there is any way to remap the Itunes fuction keys (Play/Pause, Volume, Prev, Next, etc). I'm not using an apple keyboard and the way OSX has re-maped the functions is really screwy, so I'd like to set them myself. Can it be done through iTunes or does anyone know of any application that will allow this?

MacBook Pro :: Setting Function Key To Play Music From ITunes

Jun 21, 2010

I have a last gen macbook pro, how can I change a function key to play music from iTunes (like the new ones)? Preferable it would be f12 since I never use dashboard.

Usually, when you play a video on YouTube, the on-screen buttons disappear immediately or with just one tap. Recently, I noticed that the buttons such as pause and video progress didn’t go away automatically even after tapping.

Also, there was a new X mark icon at the bottom-right corner. I had to press that button every time to hide the controls. It made watching videos on YouTube a bit annoying.

If you are also facing this issue, I will help you get rid of it. You won’t have to press the X mark to hide the screen controls.

Let’s get started.

Turn off Switch Access and Accessibility Menu

I recently read that Android 9.0 Pie has a cool Accessibility menu. So, I enabled the setting on my Google Pixel 2 XL and discovered a new button in the bottom panel that offers quick access to notifications, Google Assistant, recent apps, and more. Little did I know that it also enabled the YouTube controls. I had to turn it off to make YouTube work normally.

Here are the steps to turn it off.

Pause Play Forward Button Not Working With Spotify Mac App

Step 1: Open device settings and tap on Accessibility. If you can’t find it, look under System settings or Additional settings. You can also use the search feature to find the Accessibility settings.

Step 2: Once inside the Accessibility settings, tap on Switch Access. Then turn it off on the next screen.

Step 3: If you are running Android 9.0 Pie, tap on Accessibility Menu and turn it off as well.

Step 4: Restart your device and open YouTube.

Clear Cache

Pause Play Forward Button Not Working With Spotify Mac Free

You should also try clearing the cache for the YouTube app. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open device settings and go to Apps/Application Manager/Apps & notifications.

Step 2: Here under All apps, tap on YouTube.

Step 3: Tap on Storage followed by Clear Cache.

Clearing cache will not log you out from the device or delete any downloaded video. It just wipes temporary files and is different from clearing data.

Update the App

Many times, you need to update the app to fix any bugs in the older versions. Go to Play Store and look for YouTube and YouTube VR. Update both the apps. Then restart your device.

Switch to the Website

If the problem persists, watch your YouTube videos using their website on any mobile browser. You can also try the YouTube Go app, which is the smaller version of the app designed for devices with less memory and regions having poor internet connectivity.

Bonus Tip: Hide System Navigation Bar in Full Screen Mode

A video is entirely enjoyable only when it is viewed in full screen. At times, YouTube faces another problem where the navigation bar doesn’t hide in the full screen mode, disrupting the ambiance. Here are the solutions to hide it.

Switch to a Different App

If you see the navigation bar in the YouTube app, switch to a different app using the recent apps key. Once you are in the new app, switch back to the YouTube app. The bottom bar won’t be there.

Tip: If you are an Android 9.0 Pie user, you can use the overview selection feature to copy text and images right from the recent apps screen.

Enable/Disable VR Mode

The YouTube app makes any video in full screen friendly with the virtual reality (VR) mode. The option is present under the video settings. To hide the navigation bar, you need to enable the VR mode first and then disable it.

Doing this will force the video to go into the full screen view without the navigation bar. So enabling and disabling this mode should solve your problem.

To do so, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the YouTube video in the full screen mode. Then tap on the three-dot icon at the top-right corner and select Watch in VR.

Step 2: Once in the VR mode, tap on the cross X icon to close the VR mode. You will be taken to the normal mode. Now watch any video and you won't see the navigation bar.

Disable Picture-in-Picture Mode

Sometimes the picture-in-picture mode (PiP) could be responsible for the issue due to a bug in the app. Disabling this mode proves helpful. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Launch device settings and go to Apps/Application Manager.

Step 2: Tap on YouTube under All apps.

Step 3: Scroll down and tap on Picture-in-picture. Turn it off.

It's not the best solution if you like the PiP mode, but it might be one of the options to fix the issue.

Easy to Control

Like all apps, even YouTube hits a snag at times. We hope the above fixes help to solve the issue. Once YouTube is up and running well, you can loop and sort your videos in many ways. And if you want to download YouTube videos, you can do that quite legally.

However, it’s easy to lose track of time on YouTube. For that, interestingly, you can set a time limit to watch over your viewing time.
